Creating a collection in Riverscapes Data Exchange

What do Collections Do? 

Collections allow you to group different projects. Collections are saved under your account and you can set the collection visibility to private, shared within your organization, or publicly. They are a great way to organize, store and share projects that you will reference often. 

Adding projects individually to a Collection

There are two ways to add individual projects to a collection. This can be done from the project overview page and from the collection itself. 

From the Project Overview Page

1. Select a project from the map to open its overview page. 
2. Click Collections from the project navigation page
3. Click Add to Collection on the right side of the page. 
4. You can choose to 'Create new collection containing this project' or 'Add this project to existing collection'
   1. Create new collection containing this project
      1. Give the collection a name. 
      2. Choose if the project belongs to you, or your organization
      3. Choose the desired collection visibility
      4. Select Create Collection
   2. Add this project to existing collection 
      1. From the drop-down, search for your target collection. Only collections you have recently added to will be visible from the drop down. You will only be able to add to collections that belong to you or your organization if you are a contributor or higher level within your organization.

From the Collection 

You can easily add projects you opened in the Map Viewer recently to a collection from the Collection Overview Page

1. Open your profile by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the page and select your profile 

1. Open your collections tab by selecting Collections from the navigation bar
2. Create a collection by selecting Create Collection or open the collection to which you want to add projects. 
3. Once you are in the collection overview page, select Projects from the top navigation page. 
4. Select Add a project to this collection. This will open a pop-up with a drop-down box
5. Search for or select from the drop-down projects you wish to add to the collection. Note - only projects you recently added to will appear in the dropdown automatically. 

Adding Multiple projects to the a collection 

You can add multiple projects to a map at the same time from the map viewer. This allows you to add multiple project types for an drainage quickly or add the same project type for a large area quickly quickly 

1.  From data.riverscapes.net, select Explore Map
2. If desired, you can limit your search by project type by using the dropdown at the top of the map. Select the project type you want to search for. 
3.  Navigate to your area of interest 
4. Toggle Limit to Map on
5. Click the three vertical dots, and select either 'Create new collection containing this project' or 'Add this project to existing collection'
