All Riverscapes Projects in the Data Exchange have an automatically generated suggested citation, available on the main Project Page Overview Tab:
The citations are easy to copy as plan text (with `txt` button) or as markdown (for use in websites that support MarkDown). The text for the above example is just:
Cybercastor. (2024). BRAT for Blacktail Deer Creek. A Riverscapes Project data set of type: Beaver Restoration Assessment Tool (BRAT). Owned by: BLM Riverscapes. Available from: https://data.riverscapes.net/p/fcb7fbd1-d4be-429e-b1d1-c1a1dc36e8f9/
By contrast, the markdown for that same example is:
[Cybercastor](https://data.riverscapes.net/u/90b5ecdb-026d-4f63-be8c-8bf967a4d995/). (2024). [BRAT for Blacktail Deer Creek](https://data.riverscapes.net/p/fcb7fbd1-d4be-429e-b1d1-c1a1dc36e8f9/). A Riverscapes Project data set of type: [Beaver Restoration Assessment Tool (BRAT)](https://data.riverscapes.net/pt/brat). Owned by: [BLM Riverscapes](https://data.riverscapes.net/u/90b5ecdb-026d-4f63-be8c-8bf967a4d995/). Available from: [https://data.riverscapes.net/p/fcb7fbd1-d4be-429e-b1d1-c1a1dc36e8f9/](https://data.riverscapes.net/p/fcb7fbd1-d4be-429e-b1d1-c1a1dc36e8f9/)
The advantage is the markdown includes all the hyperlinks to the owner, the project itself, the project type, the owner as well as the project link.
Future Plans
In the future, we hope to
- add a button for copying in the popular RIS format (used in popular citation mangers - e.g. Zotero) (https://github.com/Riverscapes/rs-web-monorepo/issues/484)
- add an option for submitting your project (if you have admin privileges) to Zenodo for tracking and minting of DOIs (https://github.com/Riverscapes/rs-web-monorepo/issues/493)
- Making project pages work with Save to Zotero Connector extension so users can easily add Riverscapes Projects to their Zotero library for easy citations.
