Wilderness Mode

Continue using Phlux even when you are offline with Wilderness Mode! It also allows for a smoother experience when internet connectivity is spotty or unreliable. While you're disconnected, Phlux will save all your updates and automatically sync them once you're back online. You’ll see your changes in the app immediately, but other users will only see them after you reconnect.

Create Offline Selections

You can save series in areas of the map by creating Offline Selections! This allows you to add to those series even when you are offline.

You can create Offline Selections by going to your Feed.

Tap the Settings cog at the top of the page.

Tap the + icon next to Saved Offline Selections.

If this is your first Offline Selection, the map will default to your current location. Otherwise, the map will show the last area you used to create an Offline Selection.

Use two fingers to pinch and adjust the map to capture the area you would like to save for offline use within the blue dotted lines.

You can also use the search bar to help you locate the area or series you want to save for offline use!

Please note the largest area you can save as a single selection is 3000km². If you need to capture a larger area, you will need to use multiple Offline Selections to capture it all.

You can view the series contained in the Offline Selection by clicking List View. This can help you double-check that you have captured all the series you need!

When you have your desired area selected, tap the check mark at the bottom of the page.

You can name your Offline Selection to help you keep things organized, then tap Create.

Your Offline Selection will start downloading! You can leave the page but please do not go offline before the download is complete.

Please note, that if there are any changes made to the series after you have cashed them, those changes will not be visible offline.

Updating Offline Selections

It is a good idea to check how old your Offline Selections are before leaving cell range. Updating your selections will ensure you have the most recent versions of the series while you are in Wilderness Mode!

Each Offline Selection will show when it was created beside the name.

If the selection was created a while ago and you think series in the area have been created or updated since then, we recommend you update the selection by deleting the current version and downloading a new one.

To delete an Offline Selection, tap on the name.

Then tap the trash can icon in the bottom right.

To download the selection again, follow the steps in the "Create Offline Selections" section above!

Test Wilderness Mode

Before leaving cell range we recommend manually turning on Wilderness Mode to make sure everything is working correctly! Wilderness Mode can be enabled at any time by going to your Feed and tapping the Settings cog.

Under Wilderness Mode, change the setting to Activated.

You can now double-check that everything you need is available before heading out!

Device Storage

Your Offline Selections and any changes made while in Wilderness Mode will be stored on your device until they can be uploaded! If you are planning to make a lot of changes while offline, or save many large Offline Selections, you may need to free up some storage space.

Unsynched Changes Queue

Any changes made while in Wilderness Mode will be stored in the Unsynched Changes queue. This can be viewed by going to your Feed and tapping the Settings cog.

The number of changes in the queue will be displayed and you can tap on Unsynched Changes to view the details of the changes in the queue.

Coming Back Online

When you are back in cell range, you can disable Wilderness Mode by going to your Feed and tapping the Settings cog.

Under Wilderness Mode, change the setting to Deactivated.

Any Unsynched Changes will begin to upload now that you are back online!
