Requesting a Community on the Riverscapes Consortium

The Riverscapes Consortium community platform has a powerful feature for organizing into smaller sub-communities called groups. We call these "communities".

If you want to build your own community, you can request one by sending an email to support@riverscapes.freshdesk.com or submitting a ticket. We will consider each community request on a case by case basis. We are looking to make sure it is relevant to the broader Riverscapes Consortium, and what degree of overlap it has with existing communities.

If you want to lead a free community on our platform, we will need you to provide at a minimum:

  1. Community Title
  2. Community Contact(s)
  3. A good banner image (1143x260px < 1 MV)
  4. A cover picture narrow (754 x 418px < 1 MB)
  5. A Logo (otherwise we just use RC logo)
  6. A location (if applicable)
  7. Tags that users can select to categorize their post
  8. Forum categories
  9. Community Description (1 sentence minimum - upto a paragraph)

Optionally:

  1. Community Partner(s) optional
  2. Links (titles and URLs) for additional information
  3. A YouTube Video
  4. Partner Organizations (need square logo icon, name, url and optional short description)
  5. Social media links

We also need to know if you want it to be public (default) or private (publicly visible but members have to request to join and be approved).

Please watch the video below to get a feel for what we have to populate in the back office.

If you imagine wanting to post lots of events for your community, making regular news posts, custom pages, and wanting to moderate membership or content, we need to set you up as a group administrator. This costs us roughly $1000/year and get in touch with us and we can discuss how to set that up.  Otherwise, you can do quite a bit with communities for free.
